from Brendan Kelly of the Montreal Gazette,
The first signs of cracks came during the 2016-17 season just before coach Michel Therrien was fired. Remember that night in Colorado when he seemed to almost deliberately let in goals? Still that was a short stretch. Last season was a total disaster and nobody — no journalist, no Habs manager, not Price — has explained how he became not just mediocre but quite literally the worst starting goalie in the NHL.
This season, he’s just been average but there are signs that he’s about to go from average to terrible. He has let in at least four goals in each of his last four games and he is once again near the bottom of the NHL goalie rankings. On Thursday night, Price was not in the game, fighting pucks all night. By my count, four of the six Buffalo goals on him were just brutal, including the OT winner from Rasmus Ristolainen.
I’ve been saying it for two years. There is something wrong between Price’s ears. He finally admitted it Thursday.
“It’s all upstairs, I gotta figure it out,” he said.
The scary thing is that Bergevin’s plan has always been to rely on Price and hope he pulls off a miracle. The plan hasn’t changed and that’s a mistake because it looks less and less likely that Price will be pulling off any miracles.
