from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers,
The Blue Jackets are off today after sweeping their second straight back-to-back. They weren't perfect, and it wasn't often pretty, but the Jackets survived Buffalo with a 4-3 shootout win in First Niagara Center on Saturday.
That's six straight wins for the Blue Jackets, matching a franchise record. They last won six in a row from March 24 to April 3, 2006, when Doug MacLean was general manager, Gerard Gallant was coach, goaltenders Marc Denis and Pascal Leclaire were alternating starts and the Nationwide Arena cannon was just a faint idea.
None of the current Blue Jackets were on that club, of course, so none of them had idea that six straight wins was a record.
Honestly, most of them responded like this: "Really? Six? That's it?"
“I was kind of surprised the (franchise record) was only six games,” center Ryan Johansen said.
