The CBA Meeting Night Shift Post

May as well start a new post and hopefully after both sides return from dinner, we will have another negotiation meeting.

Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reported the NHL is offering a 10 year CBA deal and Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe stated there is an "out" after 8 years.

Any thoughts on that bit of information or on how you feel the negotiations are progressing?

I will be updating this post as news from the CBA talks becomes available..

Hopefully the players and owners just had a dinner as good as mine (chicken and waffles)—much better chance for success if they’re feeling fat and happy in some way other than the bulge of their wallets.

10 year deal with an 8th year out clause.  Is this the “fan” revision so they can lockout every CBA, just have the CBA’s longer in term so the fans care less because they aren’t so close apart?

I must just be cynical at this point, can’t be their logic.

I came here to ask the same thing.  If I was a player I’d insist on a longer term, since the owners have shown that no matter how well they (as a group) do, they’re going to shut down the league, plead poverty, and hold out their hands every time a CBA expires.

What percentage of the players will even be playing/viable in 8 years? What percentage of the owners?

Give Bettman credit? The man has killed two seasons worth of hockey on his watch and it’s been his PRIMARY NEGOTIATING TACTIC. That man deserves no credit whatsoever. None at all. *#$%@& him and *#$%@& the owners.

I’ll give YOU credit Dakkster.  Sounds like Collins was the brains behind the expansion and revenue growth.  So really Bettman’s only in charge of negotiating CBA’s and his only tactic has been lock-out.  The owners can save their 8m yearly salary and put a chimp in there to do the same thing and they’d get the same results.

IF a deal is reached I hope we atleast get 60 games. Gotta have something to get us through winter right? I dont really wanna resort to donuts and danish. Although, it is darn yummy.

Two sides are talking on and off, it’s called negotiating. Nothing else to report for now. If that changes, we’ll pass it along.

I’m IMAGINING for Jeremy Jacobs’ this is about power and not business. I figure we’ve got another cup less year in the No Hockey Lockout.

I attempted to fix some embed issues in this post but failed big time so some added posts were lost.

Sorry, but it was nothing really major but the flow is lost.
