The Carolina Hurricanes Need A Win Tonight

from Frank Seravalli of TSN,

The Bunch of Jerks are down to the end of the tube.

“You know the toothpaste where you can always squeeze a little bit more out of it?” Canes captain Justin Williams was saying. “We’re going to try to squeeze as much as we can out of our toothpaste here. We’ve got plenty left in it.”

That’s only slightly more palatable than the last analogy that Williams used before in this Eastern Conference final, saying the Hurricanes needed to chew on a “poop sandwich.”

But in some ways, the Hurricanes are still munching on it, maybe even more so after their first- period surge against the Boston Bruins in Game 3 failed to turn the tide on home ice. As well as they played, it wasn’t good enough.

“Everybody felt they played pretty hard, these are the tough ones to recover from,” coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “They are. That’s just the human nature of it. That’s our job, to pick up the pieces, come in [Thursday], try to put everything behind you and know that it’s going to take that same effort, plus something else, to beat these guys.

“That’s the challenge.”

Just for fun, remember a few weeks ago when “the Wings let the wrong goalie go”?

Funny how much things change so quickly.  But that’s Petr’s MO.

Haha Trekonor, don’t troll.

Razor did an excellent job early on and he suffered a minor injury… Could have thrown him off. Not to mention, the hurricanes in general just look… Exhausted. They don’t got it in them and to be fair, Bos is more talented in every position.

It doesn’t surprise me.

Also, why delay the inevitable? Just end it tonight. BOS gets some well deserved rest and we can only hope SJ or STL can take them on. One more thing I’ll say, I just don’t think BOS has played any talented team like SJ or STL. They’ve played TOR which was their best yet and they barely won imo. Then BOS plays Blue jackets (a fluke to beat TB) and Carolina?.. Which Car barely beat WSH. All the works been done for them! LOL

How many days off did Carolina have between series?

Haha, well, not trolling.  Just saying, maybe some times people need to “eat a poop sandwich”.

The thing with Petr is, when he’s good, he’s really good.  When he’s bad, he’s really bad.  Unfortunately a lot of people only remember a week or two at a time and forget his MO.

Whether or not he’s still injured or being affected by that shouldn’t really matter a whole lot - he was apparently healthy for the coach to put him in as a started AND to leave him in to get torched.  Let’s not forget - McElhiney is no slouch.  He was RIGHT behind Petr in stats and starts through the regular season and he’s proven capable in the playoffs.  Point being, if Petr was/is injured it must not have been too bad since Brindamour chose Petr over McEhlhiney for a few games post-injury.

There was a post on here early in the Playoffs where some of us said he’d probably stay hot for a few weeks or a month if they were still in it, but he’d start stinking the bed before long.  That’s definitely the case here.

Couldn’t agree more. This is in fact why DET let him go.
