The Buffalo Sabres Are On The Clock When It Comes To Hall And Eichel

10/13/2020 at 8:36am EDT

from Michael Traikos of the National Post,

If the Sabres hope to keep around someone who has won the Hart Trophy but has yet to win a playoff round in 10 seasons spent with the Oilers, Devils and Coyotes, then they have to show Hall that this is a place where he can win a championship.

“We’re hoping it will turn into a long-term relationship,” said GM Kevyn Adams.

Then again, Hall is not the player they have to be worried about.

If Hall is walking out the door next year, it means that he doesn’t believe he can win in Buffalo. And if that’s the case, then Eichel could be walking out with him.

Call it an ultimatum or a deadline if you want. But the Sabres are now on the clock. They have to take a giant step forward this year. They might not necessarily have to win the Stanley Cup. But they have to at least make the playoffs and show that they are capable of winning a round or two.
