The Bruins will face the Columbus Blue Jackets in round 2.

Toronto had a good 2nd period but other than that, nada.  Boston played their game tonight and deserved the win.

Oh, and another year for no Cup in Canada.

From the Toronto Sun…...

The Leafs were seeking their first road win in a Game 7 since Nik Borschevsky’s overtime winner in Detroit 26 years ago. Boston has now defeated the Leafs in six straight series dating back 50 years, its longest losing streak against any opponent.

It’s already starting….

From the same article…..

That wasn’t the Leafs, haunted by the NHL’s longest Stanley Cup drought, reaching 52 years, the past three under Mike Babcock, unable to coax them past the first turn. Babcock’s record of 3-7 in Game 7 is part of a lengthening string of his own first-round defeats.

I haven’t heard Kadri’s name once tonite in the postgame analysis or interviews.

NBCSN covered it and his potential exit. The Shoe Beater said he is good when he is on, but when he is selfish, he is not.

Ok, I didn’t see that broadcast. I was guessing that the CBC/SN guys were likely told to steer clear of that issue.

For a moment i thought, oh good, end of the relentless Leafs (over)coverage here in Canada…but the post-mortems will likely carry through until the (Leafcentric) free agency coverage begins. Ah well, go Blue Jackets!

Sorry this is a Vegas/Sharks comment.Vegas Eakin takes a 5 Min Penalty (for X checking?) 1/2 thru the 3rd with Vegas ahead 3-0.Sharks score 4 PP Goals to go ahead and Vegas ties it up late in the 3rd.  Bad Penalty? Hope for Eakins sake it was not intentional or he will be playing in China next year.

Vegas wins in OT = short memories
Vegas loses in OT = never to be forgotten Game 7 screwup

There is already an article on TSN suggesting the Leafs will have to make roster adjustments this summer with Kadri’s picture as the lead on the story. He will be run out of town.

I love how the Patrick Marlowe question ends the Babs press conference. One tough question and Boobs is out of there, lol. Tough Big Game Hunter cannot handle those types of questions. I actually thought the same about Marlowe being out there. He looked relatively slow all series.

You’re right.  Babcock didn’t have a single point in this series, how can he be expected to lead his lower-seeded team to victory? I mean, everyone was calling for the Leafs to not only beat the Bruins, but to actually win the Cup.

Right?

Am I following correctly? I think even you were expounding on how the Leafs should’ve just walked all over the Bruins.

Am I correct on that one, RW?

The most egregious thing about last night though is that you can clearly hear Babcock yelling at Jake Gardiner to make a drop pass behind the net directly onto the stick on an oncoming opponent.

Oh why, Mike Babcock? Why couldn’t you have just let Gardiner carry the puck instead of making a stupid, terrible play behind the net?  DAMN YOU FOR NOT PUTTING THIS TEAM ON YOUR BACK AND SCORING ENOUGH GOALS YOURSELF TO WIN THIS SERIES, Mike Babcock!!!!

It’s clearly all your fault!

Bye, bye Canada. Another year no Stanley Cup in Canada. It has to really annoy those “it’s our game group” that the likes of Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, San Jose and Colorado are still in it while all the Canadian teams are off playing golf.

“We’ve got to push through this because you can’t be talking after a playoff series that you’re going home,” said Babcock. “That’s the bottom line. We’ve improved our team drastically, you’ve witnessed it. This series we were a way better team than we were a year ago, but we’re at the same point with the same result here today and, so, that part is disappointing.”

A really improved team spinning its wheels…that’s on you, Babs (most-over-rated coach in recent NHL history)

I listened to the Jets post-game after their loss, and a few callers blamed it on the Americans on the team. The hosts did not disagree.

During the Leafs post-game last night it was mentioned Nylander and Mathews share the blame.

Seems non-Canadians are the reason Canadian teams don’t have success in the playoffs.

Why am I not surprised? Seems like a lot of Canadians like to drink the Don Cherry Flavor Aid.
