The Boston Bruins Are Ready For Tonight's Game 6

05/06/2019 at 8:51am EDT

from Rich Thompson of the Boston Herald,

The Bruins took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals with Saturday night’s thrilling 4-3 victory at the Garden. The Bruins had a 2-0 lead in the third but let Columbus tie the game 3-3 on a slot shot by defenseman Dean Kukan at 13:58. The Bruins rallied to win on David Pastrnak’s second goal of the game with 1:28 to play.

“On time starts,” Cassidy said. “I think we have been a good first-period team and extend the lead when you can, and we did that last night.

“I know it sounds simple, but that is your formula as the game goes on, that’s what it has to be. “

With a win in Game 6, the Bruins would advance to the Eastern Conference finals and host the Carolina Hurricanes. A Columbus victory would force a Game 7 in Boston on Wednesday night.

“We follow (Cassidy’s) lead and he knows it’s going to be a tough task,” Bruins center Charlie Coyle said. “They are a good team, they play well at home, and their crowd gets into it.

“We have to make sure we play a simple game early on. If we sit back a little bit and they make their push, they will make you pay with their chances. We saw some of that (Saturday), and it’s up to us.”
