The Ducks are cautiously optimistic that forward Patrick Eaves will be able to play in an exhibition game closer to the end of training camp.
Eaves missed all but two games last season because of a post-viral syndrome. He was originally, and as it turned out, incorrectly diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder that affects 1 in 100,000 Americans.
But it’s not any aftereffects from the mysterious post-viral syndrome that have the Ducks and Eaves working on a carefully crafted schedule for his return. The chief issue is his surgically repaired right shoulder.
