from Eric Stephens of the OC Register (Sunday edition),
Instead of flying Sunday evening, the Ducks will head to Vegas on Monday and scrap their morning skate. It isn’t unheard of – they’ve flown on game days in the past – but it is rarely done. This one was a touchy topic, with Carlyle not addressing it directly and Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf saying, “You’d have to talk to the boss.”
The boss, in this case, is Ducks general manager Bob Murray. The Ducks went to Vegas in the first week of December and had a different plan then, playing in Nashville on a Saturday night and staying until Monday before flying that afternoon to Nevada for a Tuesday night game.
“It is what it is,” Getzlaf said. “They put the plan in place. That’s Bob’s call. A situation like this, Bob made the call. That’s what he wanted to do and we just live with it. If we win, he’s a genius. If we don’t, then it didn’t work.
“It’s the same as anything else. It’s a results-based business. That’s what he felt was best to prepare us for the game tomorrow.”
