Is there a Stupid pill that everyone in EDM is supposed to consume when they come to work for the Oilers?
They basically swapped Hall for Lucic. Good job.

I like Larsson, but Hall wasn’t the problem in Edmonton. They needed to purge RNH, Eberle and Yak first.

Soooo, the Oilers open up a forward position and pick up about $1.8M in cap space. I wonder who they might be looking to sign as a UFA? Hmmm. Who could it be?  smile

Larsson is good and should get better but I’m not sure this is really the top level D talent the Oilers are going to need to make the next step (have they made a step yet???). It is a start though.

Why do I think NJ just got worse. Sure, Hall will bring some offense but the Devils were about as terrible on O as the Oilers were on D. Hall’s difference may not be noticeable

I woulda taken Hall in a heart beat. They could have Kronwall, Ericcson and Smith.

This is nuts. I really like larsson….a lot. But Hall?
Is this chiarelli’s Seguin 2.0?
H better become become number one d or this was a crazy deal!
If that was the asking price for a while of yet fully proven d trouba and guys like him wil cost a fortune!

This trade seems very lopsided. Hall is a top 5 winger and a former #1 pick. Larsson projects to be a #2 defenseman but I think the Oilers could have gotten more.

Chiarelli has now traded both Taylor and Tyler. Yikes!

Wow.

It had become fairly obvious over the past year that Edmonton wasn’t having any luck moving their second tier first round picks for defensive help but damn, they got taken on this deal. Even if those two remained the key components to the trade, you have to think they could have expanded the pot a bit (yak or maybe eberle, for a decent prospect or 2nd rounder) and evened things out.

How would it even anything out if Edmonton gave up more?

Considering this trade, maybe we should offer Quincey’s rights for Yak.

I hope not Stamkos, since he just went off the market.

Terrible trade for EDM.  Hall is maybe their one established, good, solid player.  And they just traded him for a dman that kinda’ looks like a bust.

To go with their other kinda’ bust d-man they traded for in Griffin Reinhart.

I just don’t get it.  NJ sure seems to make out like a bandit on this one.

Oilers got burnt bad on this deal.

That Larsson guy is probably so bad that he would be the best D-man on the Wings’ roster. The burn Detroit would have gotten for trading Mantha + Nyquist or Tatar for Larsson the kind of burn that finally gets us a competitive first line D-pairing, not this 1st line D + barely 2nd line D as our top pairing.
