Pierre LeBrun of ESPN had an online chat today..
Pierre, the Sabres are a mess. And it's not the rookies' fault -- Pysyk is rock-solid and Zemgus Girgensons and Rasmus Ristolainen have been good. But some of the veterans have been terrible or invisible -- and it's hard to say which is worse. Does this team need to bottom out and if so should it trade Miller and Vanek immediately?
Pierre LeBrun Personally I think it was not a good decision to sit on Vanek/Miller in the off-season and not move them. The only this team can ever truly turn the page and rebuild is by getting those trades over with, while obviously getting decent return on them. But look at Calgary, Iggy and Kipper will forever be remembered as all-time heroes there as they should be _ but once both guys were gone, it's as if it allowed the Flames to breathe, rebuild, and turn the page.
What are some of the other things that Jumbo has said to you that haven't been printed? Are there enough for some sort of compendium?
Pierre LeBrun NO COMMENT :) Seriously, what makes yesterday so sad is that Thornton is a player that has always been generous with his time with reporters, always a fun guy to be around, you'd think he'd warrant the benefit of the doubt in that situation.
Where do the leafs look to upgrade? a top line centre would be nice, but a line up of Bozak-Kadri-Bolland-Mclement looks good minus having Bozak as your #1 and lack of cap space. Is it top 4 D they would like to play with Phaneuf?
Pierre LeBrun If the Leafs trade a d-man this year it will be for a forward I bet, bring more depth to top-9 group so that they don't have to rely on kids like Bodie or Devane when injuries happen. Let those kids play in AHL and grow
