Suspect Arrested In Banana Incident

via AM980,

London Police have publicly identified a suspect in connection with last week’s banana throwing incident at the John Labatt Centre.

The announcement was made by Police Chief Brad Duncan in a news conference late Wednesday morning at Police headquarters.

“26-year-old Christopher Moorhouse of London has been charged with engaged in a prohibited activity on a premises under the trespass to property act, a provincial statute.” said Duncan.

“Mr.Moorhouse has been served with a part three summons, and if convicted of this offence - could be liable to a fine of not more than $2,000. This is a provincial offence and not a criminal charge, and will be dealt with in the provincial offenses court.”

Two pictures of the suspect are available at the above link.

Enough people were offended by this to make it pretty easy to get the perp.  I am glad the authorities did not let this one pass.

did he buy the bananas at the arena or bring them in himself?

also, he looks like a poster boy for the hitler youth.

i seriously hope they got the right guy in this because if he’s not the right guy, he just got royally screwed by the media.

Love the photos. They should have been captioned: “Before consuming 12 beers. After consuming 12 beers.”

“Son would you come with me please?”
“What’s the charge officer?”
“Suspicion of being a douche nozzle and conspiracy to commit acts of douche baggery in a public forum.”

This kid should be banned from the arena permanently and I’m glad his racism has been exposed (assuming they got the right guy), but the man hunt and arrest don’t sit right with me.  Would this have been investigated if he had thrown an empty beer on the ice instead of a banana?

What kind of sullies this whole situation is what Simmonds then in turn said to Avery. So you’ve got a douche throwing a banana and a douche using a homophobic slur against another douche. Way too many douches in this world.

of course they got the right guy.  It said he expresses “remorse” for what he had done to the officers.  In other words, he already basically admitted it was indeed him who through the banana

While it was a despicable act.  He didn’t throw a hand grenade at anyone.  Let’s ease up on the hand wringing.  Simmonds himself was accused of an insensitive comment himself a few days later.  While regrettable that was not a capital offense either.  No one condones these actions but where do we draw the line?  Do we need a speach police?

Hate Crime?  Has anyone ever been murdered or assaulted by a person that liked them?  Denoting what the motivation for a crime is becomes problematical and subjective depending on who the victim is.  If Mr. Banana thrower is attacked by a mob hurling racial epithets at him is that a hate crime?
