from Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun,
Thing is, what this tired, battered bunch brought to the table for the second-last viewing by locals was particularly insulting to the paying public as it was dubbed beforehand by the coach as a “character group” that were pros....
The stretch — you know, the time of year when non-playoff teams can provide hope for fans by playing balls-to-the-wall, heart on your sleeve hockey.
To save their jobs, to earn contracts, to show some pride, to entertain fans.
Not these Flames....
But this was the same old song and dance they’ve put on at home all year long — outshooting the opponents 43-21, out-chancing them but unable to make it hard to beat them....
So, let’s just say too many players on this team aren’t cut out to bring what it takes to out-will opponents.
Granted, they have no choice but to pretend to take great offence to the absurd suggestion in this space this team lacked, um, resolve.
