via Jim Gintonio of the Arizona Republic,
Dave Strader, the television play-by-play voice of the Coyotes, is expected to leave his position and accept a job with NBC/Versus, according to an NHL source.
The Coyotes have posted an ad on NHL.com to fill Strader’s position.
Strader joined the Coyotes for the 2007-08 season, moving over from the Florida Panthers, for whom he held a similar position for two years.

...grew up on Strader/Redmond. Solid announcer. He’d be a significant upgrade over anybody else on either of those networks.

Great news for the country, bad news for Coyotes fans. Strader is everything a PBP man should be…

The only play by play man that NBC/Versus uses regularly right now who is not totally horrid is John Forslund. Well, sometimes they borrow a couple of other guys who know how to call a game, but Strader is about the best around.
Maybe they can get rid of Mike Emetic (he makes me barf, thus the name) and all his wasted tales that no one, not even he, cares about.

Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond, Bruce Martyn and Paul Woods, and Bob Cole and Harry Neale will always be the “voices of hockey” for me.
Glad to see Strader get more national time.

I feel bad for the Coyotes fans who are losing the best in the business (having been there myself with the same guy!), but I’m really excited about this. Hopefully this means Strader will be the lead play-by-play guy for both networks and we’ll get to hear him on a weekly basis.

If you have to explain the joke, you’ve failed.

Good job on getting another quality play-by-play guy for the national broadcasts. Strader is excellent. I don’t know who will replace him on local Coyotes broadcasts, but it’s going to be tough to find another person who can actually make Tyson Nash somewhat bearable.

Tyson Nash is among the worst….
If Versus picks up Daniels too, between Strader, Emrick, Reaugh, and Daniels, they might actually have some decent broadcast teams. If only something could be done about dumping Olcyzk and McGuire….

IMO the only PxP guy that can top Strades is Gary Thorne. This is a solid move by VS/NBC and hopefully a move that gets rid of Doc. Next up DC and Ed Theredwingssuck Olcyzk.

As a resident of Phoenix and a hockey fan, no more Tyson Nash is the only upside if the Coyotes leave Phoenix.

‘Bout damn time for Strader. Well picked by NBC.
...McGuire….

He’s now a permanent fixture on NBC. He left TSN for a full-time gig with NBC.

Good to hear. Strafed is one of the best in the league. He’s not flashy, but he gets the job done well, and that’s what an announcer needs to do.
