All was quiet on the Erik Karlsson front Wednesday.
Was it the calm before the storm?
As our neighbors to the south celebrated the Fourth of July in the United States, there was no deal in place that was good enough for the Ottawa Senators to trade their captain.
While the belief is Karlsson’s days with the Senators are numbered after the organization allowed his agents to talk about a contract extension with two teams — and possibly more — there was no physical evidence Wednesday that any deal is imminent.
Of course, that can all change with one phone call, but if general manager Pierre Dorion had an offer on the table he couldn’t refuse, then this trade would have already been made because the Senators have enough to deal with elsewhere.
