Statement From Sinclair Broadcast Group

from Mac Engel of the Dallas Morning News,

“Sinclair remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with both Hulu and YouTube TV to carry the FOX (regional sports networks),” Sinclair wrote in a statement. “At no time have we demanded exorbitant fees for these channels. Instead, we have consistently offered both pay TV providers extremely fair deals in line with what hundreds of other TV services have agreed to and continue to agree to.”

“However, despite high profile ad campaigns and website claims touting their live sports content, we have yet to see that same commitment from either provider to put consumers first. Unfortunately, at this point we have no choice but to conclude that neither Disney (which owns Hulu) nor Google (which owns YouTube) is willing to engage in good faith discussions or return the RSNs to their platforms.”

Everyone associated with Sinclair can go drink bleach.  Every.  One.

Keep in mind, Sinclair mentions specifically Disney and Google, but conveniently forgets to mention that they also went MONTHS without coming to an agreement with Dish, until what… this last December???  They’re trying to strong-arm everyone, and it’s not working at all so far, and they’re getting desperate.

To say nothing of Sinclair’s… questionable… uses of their platform to promote specific political propaganda (and force their employees to do so or be terminated).

I hope everyone eventually drops all their offerings and they completely lose their platform.

Anyone know the Dallas Morning News’ parent company and what ties they may or may not have to Sinclair, given the part of the country they’re in?

About the Dallas Morning News.

As I said in the recent past, our only hope at this point is to wait for MLB to start up, maybe they are a big enough influence to get Sinclair moving.

Sinclair was one of the first TV networks I can think of
- maybe the first who pushed what was at least meant to
be straight news for as large a local audience as possible,
into heavy-handed propaganda. Both right and left have gone crazy since then
in pitching a titled ideological confirmation bias and outrage fix to one side.
But man, I’ll never forget those incredibly awkward jarring 100% scripted, forced commentaries (like an anchor reading a hostage statement).

I don’t know much about this impasse over fees but it’s hard to trust
Sinclair’s motives or sense of balance when it comes to anything.
