Leveraging speed with innovative broadband content, Comcast.net has become the 21st-ranked Web portal in the U.S. Unique Web content like streamed NHL games may not be exclusive much longer. COO Steve Burke said Comcast could unlock Comcast.net's walled garden, offering broadband video to non-subscribers. At The Wall Street Journal's "D: All Things Digital" conference, Burke said, "We would like to be the Amazon of video on the Internet Of course, Comcast is in the programming business as well. Are you helping E!, OLN/Versus and the other networks in the Comcast portfolio on the broadband side? Schimel: We work together very closely. You'll see that E!, for instance, is very integrated into Comcast.net and we are streaming OLN's NHL games live, which is the first HD-quality full-screen streaming event for live sports on the Internet with our hockey rights through OLN.
