GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to a six-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Oliver is an exceptional young player who will continue to improve as he matures,” Maloney said. “He is an important part of our future and we are pleased to have agreed on a long term contract.”

First Edler, now Ekman-Larsson. All of the guys on my wishlist for the Wings are re-upping. Curses.
Oh well, I’ll say the same thing for this contract that I did for Yandle when he resigned last year. There’s little chance he’ll be in Pheonix in six years. Either the team, or he, will have been moved.

How the hell does a team with no ownership and abysmal attendance afford this contract? All the other owners must be livid every time they look at the other lineup they are financing.

Great contract for both sides. He’ll earn a Norris sometime during that contract.

Because the CBA requires EVERY team to spend to the minimum threshold!
