fom Larry Brooks of the New York Post,

- Again, there are still 10 weeks until the season begins, but the net of the Islanders’ offseason moves equates to acquiring Jordan Eberle and a future second-rounder in exchange for Travis Hamonic, Ryan Strome, Jean-Francois Berube, Mikhail Grabovski’s $5 million cap charge, a couple of prospects and a future fourth-rounder.

Kind of bizarre.

- Jaromir Jagr’s chance of landing in Vegas — where he could play for Gerard Gallant, his former coach in Florida — presumably would be much, much better if only McPhee hadn’t been No. 68’s general manager in Washington during the bad old days of 2001-04, don’t you think?
