1st offense, no?
If it were his 2nd, it would be 2 games, like Letang.

So let me get this straight. Matt Calvert lifts Bouchard’s stick into his own face, and Bouchard gets 2 games. Weber flagrantly boards Hansen, albeit with no injury, and gets $2500 slap on the wrist? I guess we know now how much fame is weighted into Shanahan’s decision process.

Shanahan is proving every bit as random and capricious as his predecessor. How this is not a worse hit than Letang’s is incomprehensible to me.

Better video of the hit here.

WTF, now I’m really confused! How does this not warrant a suspension? Weber makes no attempt to pull up and its not like he’s been angel to this point in his career.

I wonder if Kindl or Eriksson would get the same for a deliberate boarding.

$2,500 ... WHAT THE HELL?!
This seems to be example A1 of the type of shit the league doesn’t want to see. A blatant, direct hit from behind to a player in a vulnerable position. How Weber was not suspended (and essentially issued a parking ticket as a punishment) is absolutely insane.
I was a fan of Shanahan for his work in the pre-season and trying to put the hammer down early, but this is practically the opposite side of the spectrum now. Not good, Shanny.

So now we know. Star power affects Shanahan’s decisions. Add this to the elbow by Ryan Smyth with little or no consequences.

Disagree with this call by Shanny. Weber should have gotten two games like the rest. $2500 won’t matter at all at his salary.

I’m going to need some convincing on how relatively light this punishment is.
