Kukla's Korner Hockey

from Mark Purdy of the Mercury News,
The Sharks will lose this series. But they can also use this series. They can keep proving to the hockey world that this is not the same old Sharks team that has fallen out of the playoffs by losing to inferior teams.
Of all the subtexts to this postseason, that one has been the most frequently texted. The Shark players are well-aware that with only four teams remaining in the Stanley Cup tournament, the rest of the hockey world is watching them against Chicago.
In that sense, the Sharks have made their point. We tend to forget that most of the continent seldom sees them play, being stuck out in our little Pacific time zone corner of puckishness in the Bay Area. In two of three games against Chicago, the Sharks have earned full marks, playing well enough to almost win, but not quite.
