Sharks May Have Lost More Than The Game

from David Pollak of the Mercury News,
Two second-period goals less than two minutes apart gave the Phoenix Coyotes a 2-1 victory over the Sharks on Saturday night as San Jose’s winless streak reached five games — its longest since coach Todd McLellan took over at the start of last season.
And captain Rob Blake sees that as a legitimate cause for concern.
“It’s a cause of concern because we’re playing similar to where we were down the stretch last year, where it doesn’t look like there’s that much energy or excitement,” Blake said. “That’s got to be created by us internally. We need to turn that around.”...
The Sharks might have suffered more than the loss of sole possession of first place as defenseman Dan Boyle was hammered to the boards at the final buzzer by Phoenix left wing Taylor Pyatt. Boyle had to be helped off the ice, but McLellan said after the game that it was too soon to know the extent of the injury.
