Sharks Go 2-0 Against Dallas, Playoff Spot Now Close

from David Pollak of the Mercury News,

The win was San Jose’s second over Dallas in 72 hours and significantly improved the Sharks’ chances of reaching the postseason.

With 92 points—one fewer than the Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes—the Sharks occupy the eighth spot in the Western Conference, three points ahead of the Stars and four ahead of the Avalanche. San Jose winds up the season with games against the Kings on Thursday and Saturday. A fifth consecutive Pacific Division title remains a possibility if the Sharks win both.

So how big were the
two victories over Dallas?

“Very big,” coach Todd McLellan said, “considering that four points went into our account and none into theirs.”
