Sharks Extend Joe Thornton

from Sharks.com,

Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson has locked up team captain Joe Thornton with a three-year, $21 million contract extension that will keep the 2006 Hart and Art Ross Trophy winner in the Bay Area through the 2013-14 season.

“Joe stepped up and made a tremendous commitment to this franchise, his teammates and the fans in San Jose,” Wilson said. “We are very pleased that we now have another key piece of this team’s core under contract for the next four seasons.”

I don’t think there is anything sane about resigning Thornton. The epitome of a choke artist and a classless one at that.

The epitome of a choke artist

Since being traded to the Sharks he’s had 47 points in 56 playoff games.

He may not be quite at his regular season points per game level but I don’t know how that makes him the epitome of a choke artist…

Doug Wilson doesn’t seem to understand that Thornton and Marleau are the key reason this team hasn’t won the Stanley Cup. While they are good players, they are not championship material.
