Update 11:59pm ET: From TSN

San Jose avoided becoming the fourth NHL team to lose a series after winning the first three games. A franchise known for its playoff flops avoided a colossal one and now heads into its second straight Western Conference final. That series begins Sunday in Vancouver.

From Dave Lozo at NHL.com:

All that talk of the Sharks losing four straight after taking the first three games of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Detroit Red Wings?

It’s history.

On the precipice of becoming a footnote in one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, the Sharks came through in Game 7, holding off the Red Wings 3-2 in front of 17,562 raucous fans at HP Pavilion on Thursday night.

If the Sharks had any nervousness about becoming only the fourth team in NHL history to lose a series after leading 3-0, it didn’t show for a moment on Thursday. They dominated puck possession for much of the night, were strong in their own zone and were crisp from the time the puck was dropped until the final horn.

There were a lot of people pushing the narrative that San Jose is a group of chokers and demanding changes before this game began.  What happens to that story now?  The idea that choking or not choking all comes down to one goal shows just weak that narrative is.

I don’t like Vancouver because Don Cherry believes they are “Canada’s Team” ....even though Canadians are a minority on their team ...

...I don’t like Son Jose because any fan base that believes Joe Thornton is a leader is a fan base that believes California is a great place for three NHL teams

GO BRUINS!!

Actually the Sharks are only halfway there.  They have plenty of time to choke in the remaining rounds.  I seem to remember a rather quick exit last year after they dispatched the Wings.

Are you suggesting that a team must win the Stanley Cup or else they choked?  Thats not exactly a workable definition is it?

Hey Red Winger,

I’m guessing you’re wrong—most Shark fans believe California should only have two teams.  In case you were wondering, the outcast rhymes with *ucks.

Why do Sharks fans believe that.. because the *ucks are the only team in CA with a cup?
