Shane Doan in a Familiar Situation

From Bob McManaman at the Arizona Republic:

History has a funny way of repeating itself and on Wednesday night, in front of a “white out” crowd at Jobing.com Arena - much as it was 15 years ago in Winnipeg - the Coyotes might have played their last game in Arizona.

Again, it was Detroit that ended their season. This time, it was a series sweep punctuated by a 6-3 victory in a bitter Game 4 before a sellout crowd of 17,314.

“Nobody likes to leave their home, ever,” Doan said after the game. “Fifteen years ago, it was an emotional time to leave. When you’re told to leave your home, it’s always difficult.”

The only difference is, back then the Jets and their fans knew it was coming. The relocation to Phoenix was a done deal before the playoffs even began in 1996.

This time, there is nothing but uncertainty.

The comment section at the end of that article is hilarious. These Phoenix “fans” actually call Lidstrom ‘classless’ and that his ‘classless’  as was yapping at the young pup Turis.

One of them goes on to mention Doan’s Christian views. Hhahahha.

Get that team the freak out of the dessert!

He should be freaking thrilled he made the playoffs twice in a row.  That’s a miracle in itself.

When the playoffs started, there were only two teams in the West that had no actual shot of winning it all—Nashville and Phoenix.

The First Round is Doan and Coyotes’ Cup Final.  Just like it was for the Jets before them, and it will be for whatever pathetic new moniker the team takes up after a possible move again.  They’re not winners, not a winning franchise, and they don’t employ winners.

Look this isn’t kicking a team when they’re down:  this is decade after decade of complete, abject failure in two completely different markets, different GM’s and coaches, and a host of different players.

When you’re told to quit cross-checking guys in the back after the whistle, it’s always difficult.

There. Fixed.

Doan is an ass – and his big “show” after the gamelast night, complete with the attention-getting crocodile tears, is just one more example of it.

The difference between the Wings captain and the Yotes captain couldn’t be more obvious. The former represents the best of what hockey is all about. The latter represents the worst.
