Teemu Selanne recorded his 1,399th point tonight @ Colorado, becoming the NHL’s top all-time top scorer from Finland (Jari Kurri, 1,398). Selanne now ranks 19th in career scoring in NHL history, third among all European-born players. The only other European-born players with more points are Jaromir Jagr (born in Kladno, Czech Republic, 1,645 points) and Stan Mikita (born in Sokolce, Slovakia and raised in Canada, 1,467 points).
Below is a statement from NHL Hall-of-Famer Jari Kurri:
“I couldn’t be more proud that Teemu is the all-time top NHL scorer from Finland. Congratulations to a great player, a great friend and an even better person.”
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Kurri scored 1,398 points in his NHL career with Edmonton, Los Angeles, the NY Rangers, Anaheim and Colorado. He won five Stanley Cups with the Oilers.
thanks to the Ducks PR department for the statement.
