Not talking legendary Teemu Selanne here but his 18-year old son, Eemil.
After Teemu Selanne was a health scratch Eemil went to Twitter to vent a bit Tweeting:
Thankfully someone captured the original tweet and didn't lose it like I did.
Eemil did eventually delete the tweet and issued an apology for the joke:
Alright guys, it was just a joke. You guys can all calm down now. Have some humor. Sorry to those who felt offended.— Eemil Selanne (@EemilSelanne) April 24, 2014
Kids will be kids and when it comes to the son of an NHL legend being a healthy scratch in what has been widely publicized as his final season frustration can easily boil over. Hockey Twitter has already seen a battle of the sexes between fans and bloggers mixed into the traditional emotional rollercoaster that is the NHL playoffs so it is logical family members would have frustrations with calls they do not agree with.
Teemu took it all in good stride:
Teemu: ”I’m going to hire my son as my personal PR guy. I don’t have one yet."— Juha Hiitelä (@jhiitela) April 25, 2014
As for what Teemu Selanne thought about being a healthy scratch he discussed that with Lance Pugmire from the Los Angeles Times:
Selanne said he had a feeling he was in danger of being scratched after being on the ice for the third Game 3 goal, admitting "accidents happen."
“It’s over, I don’t even want to talk about the whole thing,” Selanne said. “I told Bruce it’s a new day, there’s no hard feelings, we go from there. It’s playoff time. I don’t want to think about negative energy.”
