For those of you who have been wondering what the Penguins’ national TV broadcast schedule would look like, your prayers have been answered. The Penguins will appear on nation TV the maximum 12 times starting with their season opening game against the Vancouver Canucks. Counting the game in Vancouver, the Penguins have been selected to appear on Versus six times. The Penguins have also had six games selected by NBC for possible flex scheduling on Sunday afternoons.
The details of the broadcast schedule are broken down below in the release from the team.
The National Hockey League announced its 2011-12 national TV broadcast schedule today, and the Penguins will make the maximum 12 exclusive appearances, including the team’s opening night visit to Vancouver on Oct. 6.
In addition to opening night, the Penguins have been selected for five other VERSUS exclusive broadcasts: Nov. 15 vs. Colorado; Dec. 20 vs. Chicago; Jan. 11 at Washington; Feb. 29 at Dallas; and March 7 vs. Toronto.
NBC Sports will once again feature a flexible scheduling format on Sunday afternoons that can see the Penguins appear up to four times, beginning with a Jan. 22 showdown with Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at CONSOL Energy Center.
Other potential NBC exclusive contests include: Feb. 19 at Buffalo; March 11 vs. Boston; March 18 at Philadelphia; April 1 vs. Philadelphia; and April 7 vs. Philadelphia.
For the 2011-12 season, Sunday games not picked up by NBC can be picked up by VERSUS as national exclusive games later than night. The five instances where the Penguins can be selected are Jan. 22 vs. Washington; March 11 at Boston; March 18 at Philadelphia; April 1 vs. Philadelphia and April 7 vs. Philadelphia.
All other Penguins’ games (a total of 70) will be broadcast locally by ROOT SPORTS.

I’m sure I won’t get much sympathy from the Wings fans on here, but it sucks that the Penguins opener is a 10:00pm game. Will be worth the lack of sleep if Crosby’s in that game though!
