from Fluta Shinzawa of the Bruins Blog at the Boston Globe,
The Bruins are not expecting Marc Savard to play in 2011-12.
Savard has not been examined recently by team doctors. But Savard is still experiencing post-concussion syndrome, more than seven months after his 2010-11 season – and possibly his career – ended on Jan. 22.
“Marc Savard won’t play this year,” said GM Peter Chiarelli. “Nothing has changed in our monitoring. He’ll be examined and he’ll be declared unfit to play.”

Can you do this again Kane? But harder? And more often?

Wonder how many guys sent Kane a fruit basket the next day.

It’s not entirely Matt Cooke’s fault. Savard came back too early from that hit, in addition to suffering another concussion in January. But I guess it’s just easier to blame Cooke.

Forgot to mention that Savard had two previous concussions before the Cooke hit. Again, I’m not trying to absolve Cooke of any wrongdoing. His hit was a careless and dangerous play. It definitely played a part in Savard’s troubles. But to single out Cooke and completely put the blame on him is shortsighted.

Fine, you’re right. He just made a mistake. It’s not like he has any kind of history. Let’s buy him a medal and a chocolate milk.

Garth, once again, you misinterpret what I’m saying. I never said he wasn’t at fault.

If not not mistaken I believe Savard hasnt officially announced his retirement because that would waive the rest of his contract which is a little over 4 million a year. If he reitres he wont be entitled to it but his career is virtually over. Too bad, Savard was a good player. Best of luck to him and his recovery.
