Sources tell Sportsnet the National Hockey League Players' Association conducted an emergency conference call last night to discuss the extension of Ted Saskin's contract as the newly-appointed Executive Director. The call lasted for five hours as player representatives and the PA executive debated whether or not due process was completed in signing off on Saskin's appointment and contract term. Sources say at one point the vote was split on whether or not to push through a five-year extension to Saskin's deal which would see Saskin earn approximately $10 million at $2 million per year. The marathon call concluded with the union, led by Trevor Linden ratifying the agreement.
