from Jim Jamieson of The White Towel at the Vancouver Province,
Always full of surprises when it comes to injuries, the Canucks welcomed defenceman Sami Salo to his first full practice with the club on Wednesday — well ahead of expectation.
Salo tore his Achilles tendon while playing floorball in mid-July and wasn’t expected back until late January or even beyond. He’s been skating on his own for some weeks and it’ll likely still be a while before he’s ready to play.
The Canucks will have to do some salary-cap magic to get him back on the roster, though. His contract is for $3.5 million and they are nearly at the cap ceiling already.
