Ryan Strome Speaks at NHLPA Rookie Showcase, Attends Blue Jays Game With Gabriel Landeskog

NHL.com went all access with rookie Ryan Strome at the 2011 NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Toronto.  Watch the video.  Strome also spoke at the showcase and said that he is enjoying himself with the guys and is having a good time taking a step back from competition before training camp starts.

Strome also took the time to attend a Toronto Blue Jays game with #2 overall pick Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalance.  As you can tell by the video, Landeskog needs quite a tutorial on the game of baseball.

TII Thoughts: The NHLPA Rookie Showcase taking place means that the season will be here before we know it.  It’s great to see Strome in a NY Islanders sweater.  It has to be great for all of the rookies to gather in Toronto, get their first rookie card pictures taken, take in a Blue Jays game together, and hang out in the NHLPA suite at the Rogers Centre.  As expected, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the #1 overall pick, received a lot of attention at the showcase, as did all of the top-5 picks.  It will be interesting to see who breaks camp with their NHL teams.  My guess is that Nugent-Hopkins and Landeskog will start the season in the NHL.  What do you guys think?
