Ryan Smyth for Zetterberg- No

I have had quite a few emails today regarding a rumor of a Smyth for Zetterberg deal in the works. My reply was the same to all, it is not going to happen, never even brought up by either side. Now this from the Herald-Tribune,
Oiler fans may be squirming a bit with longest-serving Oiler Smyth still not signed, but Lowe said whether it's a short-term or long-term contract, the Banff product will be in Oiler silks when the puck drops Oct. 5 at home against the Colorado Avalanche. "I think there seems to be some mixed messages or misconceptions about Ryan. We'll get Ryan signed, it's just a question of whether he's long-term because next year he becomes an unrestricted free agent," said Lowe. "I guess the worst-case scenario would be if we had to put him on a one-year deal. Not that Ryan needs motivation, but he'd be highly motivated and have a great year, which is good for the Oilers. "But our expectations and hopes are that we can get him a long-term deal, but we'll see what happens. Rest assured he'll play for the Oilers this year."
