Ryan O’Reilly Avoids Arbitration, Agrees To A Two-Year Deal

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Ryan O’Reilly to a two-year contract through the 2015-16 season, avoiding arbitration.

"We are pleased to have Ryan under contract," said Avalanche Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic. "We are looking at the upcoming training camp and season with a lot of excitement."

O’Reilly was asking for $6.75M while the Avs were offering $5.5M.

Seems like a compromise like this could have been found without all of the bad blood and hullabaloo surrounding arbitration.

Sad, was hoping to see Ryan in a wings jersey the season after next, now we have to wait 3 years..
