Only 2 games? Garbutt is a repeat offender having been given a 5-game suspension last year for charging Dustin Penner.

I’m very ignorant to the appeals process, but perhaps the NHL is scared to give anyone more than 6 games because they know the PA can appeal using evidence that the NHL never suspends anyone beyond 5 games.

The NHL continues to talk the talk but fails to walk the walk.
Head hunting, dangerous hits, calling out repeat offenders… it’s all been lip service thus far.

Eventually the NHL will be successfully sued by a group of former players and they’ll have nobody to blame but themselves.

Being a repeat offender, and seeing as kneeing is one of the most dangerous plays in hockey, they should have given him 10 games.
I don’t give two poops and a monkey piss that Hall wasn’t injured on the play (which I’m positive is the reason for the low penalty).

If the NHL is serious about getting rid of meatheads and bonehead, dangerous plays, they MUST start suspending based on intent and not damage incurred.

To quote Mr.Burns, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety as as impotent as a Nevada boxing commissioner.

The irony about all this is the players are only cannibalizing themselves. THEY should be forcing the NHL to bury these repeat offenders.
