The Russians rather flagrantly found a way around the IIHF's decision to suspend coach Oleg Znarok for yesterday's throat-slitting gesture. Znarok attended the game and spoke with the acting assistant coach via either his cell phone or a walkie-talkie:
Russia won the World Championship by defeating Finland 5-2, and while Znarok's suspension was supposed to prohibit him from on-ice ceremonies, his players led coach Znarok on to the ice like a conquering hero...
And he was awarded a gold medal (coaches don't win Olympic medals, but they do earn medals at World Championships) in an on-ice cereony.
