from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
- The Oilers are pushing buttons everywhere and have shown significant interest in Minnesota Wild defenceman Jonas Brodin, who has a $4.166-million cap hit through 2020-21. Edmonton badly needs to solidify its defence and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would be a nice fit for Minny.
- As reported Friday, several teams have called the Anaheim Ducks about 24-year-old defenceman Cam Fowler and it certainly sounds like he’s going to be on the move at some point or another. The Sabres have made a hard push for Fowler but they’re not alone because the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens are also in need of blueliners. The asking price is a first-round pick and a prospect because Anaheim GM Bob Murray can’t afford to give the guy away. There’s a huge market for defencemen at the moment because so many teams are trying to get them. The Ducks need to free up the cap space so they can go out and get a rugged winger.
