Ruff & Laviolette After The Game

Q. You challenged the Briere line and they answered the bell. COACH LINDY RUFF: I thought he had a real good night for us in all areas. And if we're going to win, they need to play like that. It was great to see -- I thought the whole team really bounced back with a solid effort. Q. Is that what you told them yesterday when you pulled them aside, your best players have to play like your best players? COACH LINDY RUFF: Pretty well, that they got outplayed, that we need them to outplay the opposition if we're going to have success. I think part of it was we talked about offense and part of it is responsibility when we're playing defense, too. Q. Yesterday Coach Ruff challenged the Briere, Hecht Dumont line to be more effective in today's game. From your perspective talk about what it was like to try and contain them shift by shift? COACH PETER LAVIOLETTE: Well, they scored some goals, so the second period we weren't very good, offensive or defensively or with our discipline. Second period really did us in tonight. I thought we played a real good road period in the first period and the third period I thought that we got going, but the second period cost us. more in the comment section of this post... I am not sure if the NHL has done this before, but after the game, they streamed the post game interviews from their homepage at NHL.com. The interviews can be watched and a very cool section of the video is the goals scored last night. You can watch them all from different angles, with no commentary, so you can hear the on-ice action, etc... That part starts at the 36:30 mark of the video.
