Cam Ward's name has been brought up in some of the trade talk lately and Chip Alexander tweets the latest on them...
Francis says personnel decisions may be made at upcoming management meetings. Cites need to take "emotion and frustration" out of decisions.
Asked Francis about Ward-to-Wild rumors. Didn't address specifically but says there are some teams are looking for goalies.
Francis noted Ward has a no-trade clause in contract. Also said FA market for goalies may not be strong and Canes need to be careful.

He was carolina’s goalie during the 2002 cup run wasn’t he? Wow.

Irbe in 2002…I think that’s who Larionov lifted the puck over in the 3rd OT back then.
Ward would have been 2006, the year Carolina beat Edmonton (and Edmonton beat us..and the last time Stevie Y played for real).
Still a long time ago for Ward, though. 22 or so.
Since then, he’s been seriously inconsistent within and between seasons. As recently as last Spring, he stoned Detroit in one of the final regular season games. But expecting that version of him over a full season seems unrealistic at this point.

Seems like Ward’s been in the league a long time, but he’s just 30. And a cap hit of $6.3 million.
