Rick Jeanneret Is All Hockey

from Tim Wharnsby of CBC,

Rick Jeanneret’s passion for his job is obvious. Just listen to him.

Even on Tuesday night, when the Buffalo Sabres broadcaster was inducted into the Sabres Hall of Fame along with Dale Hawerchuk, Jeanneret concluded his remarks in the pregame ceremony by telling the crowd “No. 1, this is the only job I’ve ever wanted and No. 2 this is the only place I ever wanted to be. From my lips to your ears, thanks for listening.”

Then he hurried up to his broadcast booth to call the Sabres 6-5 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets.

Jeanneret is the longest tenured play-by-play man in the NHL. He celebrated the 40th anniversary of his first game last month and has called more than 3,500 regular-season and playoff games.
