Stupid decision. Messier wanted the job and he would have been MONEY.
Not to mention, Vancouver had a better roster than the Rangers and how far did they get every year? Exactly.
Messier was the best choice and usual, the Rangers completely screwed it up.

scotts0, you think a guy with no pro coaching experience would have been a better option than a guy who has been to the finals and won multiple Presidents Trophies?

Messier has no coaching experience, it would have been suicidal for the Rangers to hire him.
Vigneault is a quality coach, he’ll do well on Broadway.

Yes, I actually think Messier would do great, because he’s Mark Messier. The guy is a leader, intelligent and has won at every level.
Plus, you think all those young kids on the Rangers wouldn’t bust their ass night in and night out for Coach Messier?

First order of business bench Brad Richards all season long which will lead to them not making the playoffs at all to segue from Torts benching of Richards in the playoffs perfectly.
This guy seems like a strange fit for the Big Apple but he is probably the toughest bench boss in the NHL for he’ll be able to handle himself with the NY media if it ever gets physical.
