Report Says Shelley Will Get At Least Five Games

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jody Shelley waived his right to an in-person hearing with the National Hockey League for his hit-from-behind on Darryl Boyce of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.

According to Hockeycentral’s Nick Kypreos, Shelley is expected to get a suspension of five-plus games.

Five games in the regular season still isn’t enough. Those kind of hits are completely unneccessary and should be punished harshly. Five games is not enough.

As long as it’s not laughably short, the length of the suspension is less of a concern for me at this point. The standards set and sticking to them is what I’m interested in to start Shanny’s reign as lord of discipline.

Five games should get the message out to the rest of the players in the NHL to ease off when they see the opponents back number.
