Report- Settlement Reached In Moore/Bertuzzi Case

via CBC,

Less than three weeks from the start of a lengthy civil trial and after eight years of litigation, former Colorado Avalanche Steve Moore has reached a settlement with Todd Bertuzzi and the Vancouver Canucks, according to media reports.

Details of the settlement are not available, but Moore's lawyer, Tim Danson, confirmed an offer has been made and agreed to.

Moore’s had been seeking $68 million in damages, and the civil lawsuit was scheduled to begin on Sept. 8.

It’ll be interesting to see if any of the details leak.  This has dragged on so long, for Bert’s sake I’m glad it’s over.  Hopefully he has some money left.

I wonder if they waited so long just to see how much Bertuzzi made in the 8 years since Moore’s career ended so they could peg it to a % of his income. The upside for Moore is, he didn’t have a lump sum of $20MM or so to lose in 2008-2009 when everything crashed.

Getting this behind them will be a good thing. I’ve personally had a small lawsuit linger for 2+ years and it was stress and frustration, can’t imagine this huge lawsuit hasn’t completely consumed Moore.
