Yikes.

He was by many accounts having an excellent season.

Still a killer contract. His and Price’s kind of kept that team in a weird limbo
of hoping to contend but not going all the way in, nor selling assets to get younger and better, longer-term.

Wonder if they’ll have enough clarity by the trade deadline and
start selling assets or if a guy like Petry becomes even more important.

via TSN,

Weber has six years left after this season on a 14-year, $110 million contract he signed as an offer sheet from the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2012 before the Nashville Predators matched the deal.

Plus the article states Montreal will have an update on Weber by the end of the week.

And I believe Nashville is responsible too for a large amount of salary if he no longer plays.

LTIR or only if he retires like Luongo?

Sort of feel for smaller-market teams like Nashville and Winnipeg
that had to build gradually, mostly with picks and some trades, got close
to the prize and then began to age and regress short of the goal.

Season ending to abkle sprain.  Stroke of luck for him and the Habs.  Glad hes alright. Dont want to see anyone suffer a career ending injury.
