Not surprising.  Just like it wasn’t surprising that when the PA did this the first time pretty much nobody called them out for such confrontational tactics after slagging the NHL for similar strategies for the past months or so, and just like it won’t be surprising that if the PA does decert/disclaim they won’t get any blame from the same people for cancelling the season.

Same as it ever was.

Both sides are equally greedy and guilty, neither side wants to play under what the other side has offered, and the partisans both ways will gleefully ignore as much as they need to in order to pretend that’s not actually the case.

I don’t mind that the PA is trying to decert/disclaim, I’m just amused at those who cast the players as largely blameless in this labor stoppage have to just eat it and pretend they like it.

Specific to decert/disclaim, that strategy only works if the PA actually believes the NHL wouldn’t just blow up the season.  If the 10 year CBA term is a fait accompli, that creates greater incentive for the NHL to lose a season in order to secure improved terms.  In that case they would have 10 full seasons to make up whatever they lost from the single missed one rather than just 5 or 6.

And if they are working on adding one or two franchises within the next decade, heck, that’s like a double plus bonus.  Shoot, just adding one franchise would likely make up whatever real profits the NHL might lose from a lost or shortened season.

Why do the media and fans refuse to respond to things in exactly the manner HockeyinHD wants them to?

I think you’ve nailed it on the Mandingo.  Clearly they are letting emotions get the best of them, preventing them from seeing is crystal clear logic.
