Rene Fasel Plans To Retire In 2020

MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. Longtime President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Rene Fasel told TASS that his decision against running for another presidential term was final and he would vacate the post in 2020.

Fasel first voiced his intention against running for another presidential term in November 2017. The new president will be elected at the IIHF Congress in Switzerland during the 2020 World Championships.

"I have made a final decision that I will not be going for a new term," Fasel said in an interview with TASS. "I will be 70 years old and I think it will be the right time to stop."

"As for my possible successor - we will see as there is still some time," the IIHF president added.
