Refusing To Pay Ryan O’Reilly

from Mark Chambers of the Denver Post,
Coach Joe Sacco said he doesn't have time to wait for players to find their game, yet the organization is unwilling to devote just more than one-quarter of its available $18 million of salary cap space to give restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly a chance to play his game.
Mark Guy, O'Reilly's agent, sent a text Saturday night saying, "We have not had any contact with the Avs in over a week."
Not working out a deal with O'Reilly, last season's leading scorer and best defensive forward, at the early stages of this already injury-plagued and sprint-of-a-season suggests owner Kroenke Sports Enterprises doesn't recognize that it's already in a playoff hunt, or more likely, that its hockey-specific executives have their hands tied.
