Refs Need To Focus

from the Morning Call,
When Mike Rathje is asked for his opinion on the new NHL rules, he just smirks. Mostly because the dive Joe Sakic took in overtime on Jan. 14 — the one that led to the penalty that led to Colorado's winning goal — is still fresh in his mind. ''[The referees] don't even know what they're doing out there,'' Rathje, the first-year Flyers defenseman, said last week. ''They could call 20, 30 penalties a game if they wanted to, easily, and they don't. Then all of the sudden they call penalties out of the blue in overtime, and that's a joke.''
