Refs Easing Up

While the difference isn't as marked as in years past, Avalanche captain Joe Sakic said there has been a reduction in penalties called by referees with the playoffs looming. "They're starting to let everybody play a little bit more," said Sakic, a 17-year veteran. "It depends; some games there's a grayer area and other games they call everything."
